At the Still Point of the Turning World

True poise is never rigid; it is a perpetual calibration between falling and holding.

Investigating kinetic counterbalance and structural poise in suspended luminaire design.

When designing our suspended light sculptures, the calculation of mass is only half the equation. The other half is trust in invisible forces. A ninety-centimeter counterweight of solid cast brass suspended from a cantilevered steel tendon will sway with the gentlest draft from an opened door, yet it never loses its plumb line. This kinetic dialogue creates a living presence in an interior. The fixture is not an inert object screwed into a ceiling; it is a pendulum measuring the breathing room of the architecture.
